Quickie Visualization in 4 Easy Steps!

SO VISUALIZATION IS THE KEY?

Yup! Visualization is used in a ton of other fields to ramp up physical training. Athletes are probably the most well known of the bunch.

YOU DON'T THINK YOU CAN VISUALIZE?

Close your eyes and count each of the windows of your living room.

Boom!

That was visualization!

So Visualization is the key?

Yup! Visualization is used in a ton of other fields to ramp up physical training. Athletes are probably the most well known of the bunch.

You don’t think you can visualize?

Close your eyes and count each of the windows of your living room.

Boom!

That was visualization!

Now, with your eyes closed, do a complete 360 around your living room. Notice every piece of furniture, every piece you have on the wall, lamps, things that are misplaced, that you said you would pick up. Now kneel down and touch the carpet or hardwood.

Bonus points!

What sounds can you hear? And is there anything you smell? Hopefully good smells not burnt popcorn or anything like that. The more you activate your senses the better the visualization. Just like how people tend to do better with different ways of learning, everyone has different strengths when it comes to visualization. Start with your strongest sense and work your way around. Using multiple senses also helps to solidify the visualization your brain and give better results!

Here’s an example:

I’m slightly odd, (yup!) and I do better if I hear things first. So if I’m visualizing a beach, I’ll hear the waves, and feel the breeze and the beach slowly appears. Just take your time and feel out what works best for you… there is no wrong order.

The visualization:

Step 1

Sit with your eyes closed and relax. Take 5 or 6 deep breaths inhaling relaxation and exhaling tension.

Steps 2&3

Once relaxed, Envision your life as it is now, and quickly within 2 or 3 seconds, visualize what it is you want. Be as detailed as you can and try to utilize all 5 senses. Do you see your calendar booked full of clients? Or on vacation someplace fabulous? How about seeing actual deposits into your account?

Repeat Steps 2&3

Now whoosh back to seeing yourself the way you are right now. Don’t put a ton of energy into it, just picture you. Then whoosh back over to the picture you want. Really feel it. What emotions does it evoke? Feel it with intensity!

Step 4: And repeat some more!

Do this 3 or 4 more times. Make sure when you see your “now self” you don’t put a lot of effort into it, and when you see your “future self” you utilize as many senses you can!
